Aesthetic Movement Chesterfield Country House Sofa.

Circa 1870, English.

Oversized legs which are ebonised. The front legs are tapered and fluted, while the back are splayed and  chamfered. There is a carved apron frieze having rosettes and also is ebonised.

Solid hardwood construction throughout and sturdy.

The upholstery you see is without a top cover and is all traditional with tied springs and horsehair fillings with visible hand stitching to the calico lining.

Dimensions: Length 212cm x depth 86cm x height 72cm. Seat width 155cm, seat depth 55cm, seat height 42cm.

Some losses to the small rosettes.

This requires some extra work to the seat, as a couple of ties have broken holding the springs in place. A traditional repair is needed and we can refer you in the right direction.
