Late Victorian / Edwardian Drop-End Sofa, Circa 1900
A compact antique two-seater sofa, likely dating from the late Victorian or Edwardian period, with a gently shaped back, outward-curving arms and square tapered legs.
Traditionally constructed with a fully sprung seat, including the front edge, together with sprung arms and backrest. The seat is soft and yielding. Both arms lower, extending the overall width from 154cm to 226cm.
The frame is sturdy, and the sofa is offered stripped for reupholstery. Its modest upright dimensions make it a useful option where a smaller antique sofa is required.
There is movement in the drop-arm mechanisms and their action is somewhat clunky. These should be assessed during reupholstery; alternatively, the arms could be secured in a fixed position. Fitted with replacement castors.
