Faux Bamboo Mirrored Armoire Wardrobe, France, 1890.
This late 19th-century wardrobe is made of pitch pine, its original warm-coloured stain shows minimal fading.
The doors and edges are framed with large turned faux bamboo mouldings. The cornice and base rails follow the same simulated bamboo detailing, Within the panelled surrounds are two full-length mirrors.
Constructed as a ‘knock down’ piece, with all panels dry jointed and easily dismantled for transport.
