19th Century Campaign Banquette / Bench.
A 19th-century campaign banquette seat, traditionally upholstered throughout with a fully sprung seat and horsehair fillings.
The back is buttoned, and the seat sits within a timber frame raised on solid oak legs. Each leg is fitted with a wooden screw thread at the top, allowing them to be removed for transport, a practical feature typical of campaign furniture.
The legs retain their original brass castors by Cope.
Width 137cm × Depth 72cm × Height 83cm, with a seat height of 47cm.
This upholstered bench would work well at the foot of a bed, as a window seat, in a hallway, or as a dining bench.
