The chair is raised on substantial ring-turned front legs made of oak with splayed rear legs, all legs retaining their brass castors stamped Cope Patent 'Strong'. Both of the rear legs are stamped GREGORY \u0026amp; CO.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGregory \u0026amp; Co. were prominent London furniture makers and decorators, established in Regent Street by 1861 and known for producing good-quality furniture throughout the second half of the 19th century. The low proportions, substantial turned legs and quality of construction make this a particularly good example of their upholstered seating.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe frame is firm and sturdy, with no signs of old woodworm found. The traditionally sprung seat remains in good order and the existing fillings appear clean and serviceable.
